Under the Bell Media cover, Virgin Radio London (or CIQM FM) has become one of the most popular CHR radio stations in London. The station, like its affiliates under the Virgin Radio brand, is famed for its music collection although it also dispenses news, interviews, and podcasts among other programs.
Virgin Radio London
Virgin Radio was started in London in 1986, operating on another frequency until 1993, when it took over the 97.5 frequency from CKO. The station started out as a moderate adult content station but moved to a Hot AC to compete in the industry in the late ‘90s. In the decade that followed, Virgin Radio London racked up followers by playing documentaries, interviews and all-music shows. By 2009, the station operated with the tagline "London's EZ Rock" station; by 2010, it was "The New Sound of EZ Rock."
Popular Programs and Personalities
97-5 Virgin Radio has a relatively young audience because of its reputation as a contemporary hit radio station, famous especially for its pop and rock collections. That’s why some of its programs like London’s #1 Hit Music are so popular.
Apart from cool jams and catchy tunes, Virgin Radio has a large following because of its up-to-date podcasts and user-content-driven affiliate shows like On Air with Ryan Seacrest. The show, which is recorded in the US and relayed in the London station, deals with a wide array of issues including caller-initiated catch-your-cheating-spouse segments.
